Does anyone here use a wireless keyboard and mouse?

If so do they have trouble in PS using key and mouse combinations, like Holding the Ctrl or Shift key down while drag a transform handle with the mouse.

I get halfway through doing something like Scaling when it’s as if I’ve released the mouse button, it’s becoming very frustrating.

The impression I get is that transmitting both a keyboard keypress and a mouse
button at the same time is causing some issues.

I know this isn’t just a Photoshop problem but I thought I would ask here just to see if anyone had a solution.

Thanks for any help.

Andy

Thanks for posting nonetheless, Andy. I have a wireless keyboard/mouse waiting to install, and I’ll be interested in other feedback. Hmmm…. I wonder if I’ve still got that receipt.

Hi Andy,

I’ve used a wireless keyboard and mouse for about 18 months without any of the symptoms your report. They came with the computer a Dell PC and I use the combination of keyboard and mouse a lot.

Well I’ve tried new drivers and different USB/PS2 conections and the probelm persists.

Is it a Dell keyboard or Microsoft one you have?

Mine is Microsoft.

Sounds like my Gyration system. It can be perfect for days, then suddenly for no apparent reason it can’t see a mouse click or mouse movement while a modifier key is down. Usually moving the receiver slightly or moving the mouse in relationship to the receiver will make it work again, but one time I actually had to replace the receiver.

Gyration has selectable channels for multiple devices. If the problem is constant, you need to change channels so each unit is at least two channels away from the next.

Well I’ve fiddled with changing channels and there seems to be an improvement.

I’ll see how it goes tomorrow.

Thanks

I’ve used a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse for years. The only time I ever have a problem like that is when I prop a leg up and get it lengthwise between the keyboard and receiver. Try moving your receiver closer to the keyboard and where it’s not likely to be blocked by anything.

I never had this kind of trouble, neither with my Logitech at work nor with my Microsoft at home. The only real problem I ran into was the weight of the wireless mouse. Wireless mice are much heavier than normal ones and my mouse hand and forearm startet to ache some months ago. I use one of these tiny optical Laptop mice with small batteries now and things have improved somewhat.

I have a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. I have had no problems with them at all. They work smoothly, accurately, and consistently. They work as well as any wired one I’ve ever used.

OK, the mouse eats batteries pretty fast. I think it is my heavy use of the scroll wheel. I also love the "Back" and "Forward" buttons on the MX700 mouse.

BTW, I have run this mouse from 25-30 feet away from the receiver.

I do NOT have the Bluetooth versions. I have heard nothing but trouble from anyone who every used a Bluetooth mouse. Bluetooth mice are NOT recommended.

Microsoft keyboard, Logitech trackball – both wireless, no problems.

Well thanks to everyone who replied.

I did get some improvement with the keyboard and mouse issues but ended up buying the Logitech MX 3000 keyboard and laser mouse.

This, I’m happy to say, seems to be working fine and the laser mouse is just brilliant!

Thanks again

Andy

I have used Microsoft Wireless Natural Multimedia Keyboard and Mouse (they came in same box) for nearly 2 years, without any problems. I did update the drivers when I installed. I use a USB2 port.
