Mike,
That indicates that your preference file isn’t being written to/saved.
Try deleting your prefs file (Details in the FAQ at the top of this Forum’s Topic List).
Also make sure that you do have permissions to write to that location and you haven’t set the file to Read only.
And: when PS terminates abnormally, it doesn’t clean up this scratch file. Started again, PS creates a new one with a different name.
A dozen of this situations and the scratch volume might be full. Search for *.tmp files and delete the huge ones.
And indeed, check the R/O attributes of this file and the prefs file. Rob
I am logged in as the administrator, and the file is not set for read-only.
as len stated, reset your prefrences per the faq.
Photoshop does delete any leftover scratch files the next time you launch Photoshop….
Ahhhh!
The perennial question, Chris:
" Photoshop does delete any leftover scratch files the next time you launch Photoshop"
Why not? Seems to be a much queried hassle.
Fred.

Not with me. When I "task Manage" PS three times, I’ve got three scratch-files left over. Not at all a problem since knowing, but might cause long-term-cause-forgotten issues. Rob
Fred – re-read my statement.
Rob – I think Photoshop 6 had a problem with that, but PS 7 and CS seem to be deleting the files without a problem (at least on my XP systems).
Chris,
Oops, sorry.
Fred.
