Hi everyone.

I tried to create an action of duplicating a layer to about 100 other open file images. It did not work due to the fact when you duplicate and are presented with where to duplicate the layer to, you must select the file that is open that you want to duplicate to.

What I want to do essentially is have a logo appear in the same spot in the lower right hand corner of all 100 images. I’m trying to cover a date stamp that was placed by the client’s digital camera.

Thanks,
Chris J. Popp

Hi Chris

I notice that there is a facility in Irfanview (free very useful app) to set up a batch process to include a text overlay to images, and you can set the coordinates, I also noticed there seems to also be an option to add a file at the same coordinates? I have not tried this myself but it must be worth experimenting?
I know that a lot of what Irfanview does is also possible in PS but I tend to use Irfanview as it seems easier for this sort of job.

One thing – if you are going to put the same message in two similar groups you might as well cross post so that users can see all the previous answers!

Thanks for the info. Infanview was of no use to me.

Actions – tried doing these but could not figure out how to do it.

Thanks,
Chris

Forget about duplicating a layer.
Make sure all the images you want to effect are in the same folder.

Create the image you wish to overlay the timestamp so that it is large enough to cover the timestamp.
Merge the layers.
Select all
Copy

Now create an action thus:
New action
Paste
Now drag the new pasted layer over the timestamp
Save
stop the action recording

Now go to File – Automate – Batch
The dialog box "Action:" should include the action you just created. Under Source Folder, choose the folder of images
Under Destination choose a folder to receive the new images Under File Naming, choose Document Name + 3-digit number + extension

Press Okay

Works for me.
