Installation of PS7

I have PS 5.5 and really don’t want to uninstall it. However, I am taking a course in PS and digital camera use, and the lessons are geared for PS7. So I installed PS7 in its own folder, not with the Adobe folder. Now I get the following message; YOU CURRENTLY HAVE ADOBE PHOTOSHOPS PRIMARY SCRATCH AND WINDOWS PRIMARY PAGING FILE ON THE SAME VOLUME, WHICH CAN RESULT IN REDUCED PERFORMANCE. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU SET ADOBE PS’S PRIMARY SCRATCH VOLUME, PREFEREABLY ON A DIFFERENT PHYSICAL DRIVE.
I only have a c: drive. I have no idea what this means. Can anyone interpret this greek for me? And maybe clue me in on what to do?
I have Windows 2000, tons or RAM and tons of room. I have always enjoyed using PS5.5, but the lessons require PS7 for me to understand them.

You can ignore this message. It is a "helpful" warning. If you only have one drive, you have no real option but to use it. You will find it’s OK – I use this kind of config with no prob at all.

When you get used to PS 7, you won’t want to go back to 5.5. And you can always come here for help.

Thank you for your encouraging help. I just wondered at the warning that it may result in reduced performance, because I did have a problem finding something that one of the lessons was referring to. I guess I am paranoid about PS7 because of all the trouble some people seem to have with it and installations. When I get used to PS7 I will most likely uninstall the 5.5. I feel like a traitor doing so, because it has been such a neat program with no troubles.

don’t forget to download the .01 update for ps7 if your version didn’t ship with it.

Just one bit of further advice: do install the 7.0.1 update, as this does address a few things – < http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=1851>

Thank you all for your help. However I have hit another snag. I downloaded the patch for PS7 which took a half an hour, but when I tried to install it, it said it couldn’t find PS7. I have it in its own folder which was there as bright as day when I browsed to locate it. It said it still couldn’t find PS7.
Any ideas?
