Brush Tool Preset VS. Saving a Brush in Brush Palette

This question isn’t regarding a problem. I am just curious.

I made a Brush with cool attributes: dynamics, jitter, etc. It let’s me make cool looking fuzzy caterpillars. : )

Anyway, I saved the brush as a Brush Tool Preset so I can get to it easily next time I want to make caterpillars. LOL

But I also see that I can click the "new brush" in the Brush Palette and it’s there now too since I was just using it.

So what’s the difference between the two formats? Does Tool Preset let me retain the colors and mode and the Saved Brush does not?

Again, I am just curious to know the difference. Thanks a lot. 🙂

The tool preset includes all the tool settings (and the particular tool), as well as the brush settings (because those are part of the tool settings).

The brush preset includes just the brush settings.
