When I copy a jpg image from Photoshop CS for windows and paste it into my Frontpage web site or word document, the image becomes pixelated.
I am selecting the image in Photoshop, selecting copy from the pull down menu, then pasting into another document. The image looks fine before I paste, then looks out of focus and pixelated after pasting.
Why does this happen and how do I correct the problem? I am new to Photoshop. Thanks, Mark

What are the pixel dimensions of the image? Without that information we don;t know what you’re doing wrong.

Image>Image Size and look at the height and width in pixels.

Don’t paste it.
Insert it, so that it places it with exact existing pixel dimensions?

If you just paste it onto your web page, how will you upload the image to your webspace? And how will people see it? You need to insert the image into the page and upload both page and image. You’re probably seeing some kind of low-res version the way you’re doing it.

Just do Save for Web from PS. Then either use the Insert Picture command or just drag the image onto the page.

If the size is then wrong, go back to PS, adjust and save again.

When you close/save the page in FrontPage, it will ask you where you’d like to locate the imported image file(s).

Word mostly makes a mess of imported images and there seems to be little or nothing you can do to control its behaviour.

While I wouldn’t normally take this approach for inserting an image into a web page, I did try it out with Front Page and it worked fine. In such a case, Front Page creates a new image file reference which, upon saving the page, will also prompt to save (create) the image file. I can’t explain why the pixelation occurred.

The pixelation might be a case where the user stretched the image, which is easy to do in FP, but very, very wrong on the web.

Hence my suggestion to return to PS if the size was not right.
