Please forward info regarding complete steps for resizing 300 images I have in a folder which are all 550 pixels wide, as I want them to 500 pixels wide. I realize it involves the "actions" palette, and it should be done in "batch automate".
If anyone has experience in this with easy steps, please provide. Email direct is you wish:

What about the height?

Are you distorting your images on purpose?

No, not worried about the height as I will have the action in "constrain proportions". In essence, I simply want to get all images down from 550 wide to 500 wide, not worried about height as height will be resized in proportion to width when set.

Record an action that does Image|Resize, or File|Automate|Fit Image; then include Save As.. in your action.

Toggle the dialog for the Save As portion to OFF

Then File|Automate|Batch.

Action = the one you just created
Source: Folder
Choose: pick the source folder
Destination: Folder
Choose: pick the destination folder
Override Save As Information: CHECKED

Optionally choose a naming convention and hit "go". Each image in the source folder will open, resize, and then save as, followed by close.

Peace,

It sounds like this would be simpler with IrfanView, a free utility. Google for it . This sort of simple conversion is easy.
