This is the message taht pops up every time i load photoshop CS:

"You currently have adove photoshops primary scratch and windows’ primary paging file on the same volume, which can result in reduced performance. It is recommended that you set adove photoshops primary scratch volume to be on a different volume, preferably on a different physical drive."

have an external harddrive(drive ‘H’)on my computer. How do i change this scratch volume?

thanks in advance,

Where in that message did it say it was an error?

It’s a warning, and means exactly what it says.

You should refer to your manual or online help for instructions.

John,

As Chris said, it’s a warning. In fact, it’s not really a warning, it’s an informational message, disguised as a warning. Go to Edit|Preferences|Scratch Discs, set it to C: instead of startup. The message should go away.

IMO, it should have said "If you want the optimal theoretical performance from photoshop, consider changing the scratch location to another drive", but it doesn’t <grin>

But you should read the manual or help file about scratch disks.

Peace,

It would be even nice if PS realized you only had one harddrive and simply didn’t display the message at all.
