The Browser is a window contained within the Photoshop main window, not a palette on top of it so it can only be within the Photoshop window – you’d have to drag the Photoshop window across both monitors.
this needs to be changed back. i loved having the browser docked in the palette well and having the option bar on monitor 2 (effectively putting the browser on monitor 2 as well).

Agreed, Dave.

Dave,
Agreed if the browser position must be "either/or", but why not word the wish list to allow browser movement between monitors?
You are appointed the designated mouse to tie the bell to the cat’s tail! 🙂
George
there’s already a feature request.
Q for CS users: can the browser be set outside of the PS app window, as long as it remains on the main monitor?
If yes, one should investigate the nView dual screen drivers, as they act in windows as there was only one very large monitor, not two…
5only for nVidia Card users
Yes Pierre, if you extend the application window across the two monitors, you can set the browser onto the second monitor. But the window behaviour is not quite right using fit to screen, minimise maximise boxes etc. I’ve tried it a few times but find it more hassle than it’s worth. I’m talking here about using the 2nd monitor as an extended desktop. You can also do horizontal span across the two monitors and that works better for PS but not if you want to have other apps running at the same time.

no it’s modal and must remain within the app itself. as mick says, if you extend ps across 2 monitors (i don’t like to work like that. images get split between screens and it drives me nuts) THEN you can have the browser on monitor 2.
I am so upset over this change. It is really stupid to make a change and not have an option to go back. We are not talking about a bug fix, but simply a change to something that didn’t need changing.
The file browser was not limited to the main window before… Of course if teh file browser could also be launch seperatly, then I would really dig it the most.

…….then you’d be using Photoshop Album……….(mine came bundled with OptiCal Spyder).
I have the Matrox Parhelia w3 Ezio LCDs. I have no problem moving the browser to any monitor. I use my middle monitor for my photo, my right monitor for all the palletes, and my left monitor for the browser. My middle monitor is connected DVI and calibrated, and the right and left monitors are analog to DVI converted. Unfortunately the Parhelia does not allow all 3 LCDs to be connected DVI. Anyway, I saved my Photoshop display settings and each time I open PS CS it is all set as decribed above.
So you just have Photoshop app stretched across all 3 monitors? Would have been nice if the file browser wasn’t a child window and could be moved around ez like the tool palettes.

Yes, CS is stretched across the 3 monitors. Not optimum, but for Photoshop it works fine, as the palettes and browser locations are remembered from session to session. It is much more of a hassle when not in Photoshop, but that’s not for this forum.

I disagree. When zooming with auto size turned on the pic i’m working on invariably hits and splits at a monitor border. I hate that and can’t get my head around working like that. I really wish they would either allow it to dock in the palette well again or de-modal-ize it.
Good point. That is quite annoying. The only other option that I could find for me, given that I have 3 monitors, is the Matrox X2 or X4 MMS card. It is the only one that I could find on the market that has completely independent chips on the video card so that monitors in dual, triple, and quad all run independently of each other. It cost about $700 though.

Actually no, unless it has changed in PA v2. I do not want to load import catalog or anything. I would love to be able to just sift through my folders like the File Browser does and check out my images quickly and launch the appropiate program from there.
ACDSee tried to be this, but then they tried to be too much. Also, ACDSee makes PSD files have a weird color shift while in ACDSee and is very slow to load as oppossed to the FB which is very quick.
I guess they changed the way it docked because when open it slows PSCS down.
