I have Windows XP and PS/IR 7. PS works fine, but I can’t open IR. I get an "unknown error" message. It worked fine in Win 98. What do I do to open it in XP?

Thanks, Dave. Was able to set it to be compatible with Win 2000, but never got the "reset" area you described. Will keep trying!

IR preferences are stored in the same file as Photoshop’s prefs. Resetting PS Prefs will reset those in IR, per the link that Len provided.

If you cannot get the preferences reset dialog to display, view Len’s link and locate the PSP file manually, back it up or delete it and launch PS, then Jump to IR.

OK Len, I did that. Went into PS and told it to delete prefs. Even went into Win Explorer and manually deleted the prefs file. Nada. Next?

Yes, I followed the link.

Now I have another problem – when I pull up a pic, I can’t paint on it. Suggestions on that?

Marita,

Do you mean when you open an image in ImageReady?

Check Mode and Opacity in the Options bar

Marita,

Try uninstalling Photoshop from C/Panel>Add/Remove programs. Delete the whole of the Photoshop folder tree and re-install from your CD
