I am using Photoshop 7.0, and am using a style on some text. When I save the psd file as a jpg or pdf file, all of the text effects flatten out. Any suggestions to fix this? Thanks in advance.

What do you mean "flatten out"?

You realize of course, that creating a JPG will flatten the layers, and unless you include layers with your PDF save, it will also flatten.

Still, the effect should be present. The issue may be one of magnification: to wit, you can only evaluate the image precisely at 100% mag. Any other mag is an approximation of what the image will look like. Zoom up to 100% to see if the effect is there.

Finally, exactly where does it "flatten out" – that is, are you viewing it in photoshop and it appears that way or are you looking at it in another program and determining that it’s flattened?

Peace,
Tony

I guess I used the wrong terminology…I don’t mean flattened as in layers, I mean that the effect was beveled, etc, and all of that disappears when saved as jpg or pdf. The color remains, but not the effect. Any ideas?

Are you evaluating it at 100% mag in Photoshop?

What I was trying to say was that if it’s not at 100% mag, what you see on screen isn’t necessarily what is contained in the image – it’s an approximation.

I’ve viewed at 16% and said "Hey! Why did my style go away?" after applying the style. But when you zoom up it’s there.

Is it there when you zoom to 100%?
