I would NEVER EVER recommend any plugins. Call me oldfashioned, see if I give a **** 😉

Especially not with Photoshop 7, come on! Use the available tools and their millions of possibilities man.

I have several plug ins for PS, but none of them do anything you cannot do in Photoshop. So why do I have them? Because they save time. However, there’s only one I wouldn’t be without and that’s Andromeda’s LensDoc. Again, you can do exactly what it does in PS, but LensDoc saves a lot of effort. When y7ou can charge for the time it takes to do something in Photoshop, but do it much more quickly with a plug in…

Did *I* say that? … 😉

As for URL’s – use Google like everyone else. 🙂

Google: "free Photoshop Plug-ins"

Experiment. It took me years to find just the plug-ins I like and use.

Lurk. You will occasionally learn about a cool plug-in or two. It took me years of lurking to find just the plug-ins I like and use.

If you use any clip art in windows, a good plugin to have is the one that will open wmf directly from Photoshop. A lot of clip art for windows is sold in wmf only and it really speeds up the process. You can get the plugin from my personal site

Art,
despite the erroneous contention that Photoshop can do anything that any plug-in can do, I’ve got some specific examples that can only be created within the Kai’s Power Tools (KPT) filters, such as KPT 3 Gradient Designer (a filter nearly a decade old) used with layers bin – an undocumented feature that can be accessed by inputing "command L" within the filter. The gradient can follow the shape of a selection and can be overlayed with multiple gradients in various apply modes without leaving the filter.

Here are a few examples:

http://www.amenfoto.com/gallery/tweaked_portraits_2/isi_on_i sla.html

Here’s Gradient Designer image used as a mask within KPT 5 Shapeshifter:

This is Gradient Designer in the Greyscale Mapburst mode (can’t do THIS in Photoshop alone):

The following are KPT 5 Shapeshifter with custom masks:

Here’s KPT 5 Fiber Optix (another effect that can’t be duplicated in Photoshop) that has custom masks used to create the patterns and to use the 3-D lighting

http://www.amenfoto.com/gallery/tweak_42nd_st/make-up_2.html

And here’s an image fine-tuned in KPT 6 Equalizer which is configured like a stereo equalizer you may be familiar with. This version allows you to sharpen or blur within specific tonal parameters (i.e., blur a zone I, III and VIII and sharpen zones V and IX):

Caveat – don’t expect that by getting the KPT filters that you’ll necessarily be able to duplicate what I’ve created – but you shouldn’t want to anyway. They’re made for exploring and for you customize the filtration to the nuances achieved through – for example – gaussian blurs and apply modes (to name just a couple of factors). Use them as a visual synthesizer. Don’t be dissuaded by those who don’t use plug-ins. That’s their opinions and probably not based on empirical data.

Cheers,

Adrian
