Hi,

Does any one know if it’s possible to use the tools on two or more layers at the same time?

Thnx,
Vincent

I know you can choose to smudge all layers or just the one chosen. Also you can clone from one layer to another. My brilliant suggestion is…try it and see. Then post your findings so I don’t have try it myself! 😉

Well, I’ve tried it before with linking the layers but without any result.Linking works for some tools, but not for the eraser.

And….you don’t have to try it for yourself, if it’s to much work for you. :o)

Smudging click Use All Layers in the Options Bar. Erasing put the layers in a set and make a Layer Mask on the set. You are better off using Layer Masks when possible rather than erasing.

Thanks for the reply.
I’m trying to use masks as much as possible, but it’s still a new world for me, so sometimes I want to use the old friend the eraser. But I must admit that I regret all the things I erased before I finaly took the big step towards Masks.

Don’t forget you also create a path and then stroke along the path using most of the tools, like eraser or smudge. This was you could do something like duplicate a smudge a pattern by performing that stroke on different layers one at a time.

Using the "use all layers" option of the smudge tool will bring all the smudging results to your current layer. That may or may not be what you want to do.
