I use ImageReady to make short animations from sequences of digital pictures which are ‘Exported’ as QuickTime animations. I’ve done quite a bit of this, so I’ve learned the basics of I.R. Recently, I was emailed a QuickTime, which was basically a nice slide show. Each slide stayed up for 2 seconds, then SMOOTHLY transitioned to the next slide. The transitions take 1 to 2 seconds. It was basically a fading of the first slide, revealing the second slide. I’ve done this sort of thing in ImageReady before, but apparently I did it the HARD way. I generated all the transition images and inserted them as new frames in the animation. My transitions took a long time to make, were not very smooth, and added greatly to the size of the resulting .mov file.
When I brought this new slide show into I.R. I was very surprised to see that NO transition frames were used. However each slide appeared twice (in succession) as an animation frame and the ‘Disposal’ setting on every frame was set to ‘Do Not Dispose’. Must admit that I have never used Disposal before. So I looked it up under ‘Help’ and, as usual, can’t make any sense of what they are saying. Also, I suspect that more is going on then simply setting the disposal mode correctly.
Anyone know if it’s possible to make a slide show using ImageReady where the software somehow does the transitions for you? (It’s quite possible that software other than ImageReady was used to generate the .mov file).
Thanks.
