In Image Size make sure Resample is unchecked and change the resolution to 300 ppi. Is it the size you want? If not you will have to resample.

Did you really mean 720 ppi or 72? If the latter you may not have enough image(pixels) for a good print.

Okay, now I’m a little confused – are dots per inch the same as pixels per inch?

In principle: No. Dots per inch is used for printers, but normally a printer uses several dots to simulate one pixel. That explains why printers can be as much as 5600 dpi, and you’d still send a 300 ppi (or even less) image to such a printer.

In practise: Yes, very often "dpi" is used when "ppi" is meant. For example: scanner manufacturers always quote ‘dpi’ values, but they should have used ‘ppi’ (or even better: ‘samples per inch’). In real life, when people talk about ‘dpi’, they usually mean ‘ppi’, not printer resolutions.
