We just received our copy of Adobe PS CS. It only seemed to have come with the installation CD and no documentation/books or media kit. We did purchase from a reputable dealer, so I am going to look into.

1. any issues opening CS files in PS 7?

2. I have not decided yet if I want to install on my notebook or desktop. What will I have to do once it is installed and activated on one and I decide to install it on the other?

1: Only that you won’t be able to edit any text on a path in earlier versions- but other than that everything will be fine as long as you select backwards compatibility.
2: You can put it on both (see your licence agreement- it’s on the disk somewhere).

Not if you save with Maximize PSD File Compatibility in Preferences (except for new features in PSCS and possible text re-flows due to a new text engine.)

What will I have to do once it is installed and activated on one and I
decide to install it on the other?<<

The EULA allows you to install on a second HOME or PORTABLE machine provided that:

1) It is not used simultaneously with the installation of the main computer and
2) The 2nd installation is for YOUR SOLE use.
