Problems with hotkeys

I am an avid user of Photoshop, since 5.0 days, and I recently got a copy of CS, installed it and noticed right off the bat that my hotkeys don’t work. They are all assigned properly in the hotkey editor, but they don’t work. Tool selection hotkeys like ‘Brush’ (B) work fine but ‘Select All’ (Ctrl+A) don’t. Any suggestions?
