When I try to open a business card layout created in AI 10, saved as EPS v.8, in PS7 the bottom of the card is cut off. I know it crops it to the image area, so it won’t be a perfect 3.5 x 2 canvas, but even some text is chopped off on the bottom. Not a problem for me, but a client is trying to play around with the card in PS and ran into this problem. Any ideas?

It’s actually a problem with the way Illustrator creates the EPS file.

Two things to try.

1. Re-open the original file in Illustrator and add a box with no fill or stroke and make a bit larger than your artwork.

2. If you have Corel Draw, import the EPS and then simply re-export it.

Thanks Robert. What else can this effect other than opening wrongly in Photoshop? I send a lot of EPS files for print… could it be a problem there also? Just curious… I’m trying your suggestions now.

If it’s doing it in Photoshop it will likely happen anywhere it’s used.
