Printing directly from Photoshop – Quality is Terrible

Why is it that when I print directly from Photoshop it looks terrible? The fonts get all trashy looking, the graphics go down the tubes. I choose the best settings on my printer. Nothing seems to work. If I copy and paste it to another program it looks better than through PS, but the text is somewhat pixelated. I would like to print directly from PS so I get what I designed.

Any help would be appreciated.

As far as your fonts are concerned, if you leave them as text layer they have capability of printing as vector, but ONLY to a PostScript printer. Otherwise they will print just like rasterized fonts, quality is dependent on the ppi of the image at output size.

Patty,

Sounds as though your images are too low a resolution.

You need around 240 ppi min for best quality output to an inkjet printer…..
