help with a photo

I’ve been doing some restoration on some old family photos I scanned and need some suggestions on one of them.
The pic in question is textured in such a way that after it was scanned the texture showed up as many small dots.
My question is: how would I go about removing the "dots" from this photo? Here’s a link to it:

How about a little gaussian blur mixed with a little unsharp mask? Cindy
