If you can’t come up with 5 famous people from your home state, you may combine the results of your home state and state that you currently reside in.

If you live in Canada, just come up with 5 people from the entire country. Politicians and hockey players do not count.

If you live outside of North America, then please do not participate in this thread.

Oh, and a one-of-a-kind historical item:

Double-Barreled Cannon Located at College Avenue & Hancock Street Originally designed by John Gilleland of Athens and built at the local foundry in 1863, this one-of-a-kind Civil War cannon was designed to shoot two balls simultaneously with projectiles connected by an eight foot chain, intended to toppleapproaching infantrymen. The weapon failed and was preserved, instead of dismantled. The cannon has been featured by "Ripley’s Believe It or Not."

There are many famous folks who were born in my home town- take a peek if you have time.

No. But everyone knows that the NHL is basically nothing more than the WWF on ice skates.

That’s why I don’t lend it any credibility, nor do I consider it’s players to be celebs.

Funny, I used to think the same thing until I actually watched the game. I realized then it was much more complex and skills based than I gave it credit for. The old days of ‘I was watching a fight and a hockey game broke out’ are long gone and it’s a sport I really watch, understand and enjoy immensely.

This coming from someone who only a few years ago thought ALL sports were pretty much BS and the domain of a bunch of overpaid drama queens. Watching hockey made me appreciate other sports as well. I can understand your perception from the outside view but I’d love to take you to a game – I guarantee it would change your mind.

Way back in this thread somewhere, someone falsely claimed that all of the Three Stooges were born in Pennsylvannia. There were a total of 6 stooges altogether, and only two of them, Larry Fine and Curly Joe Derita were born in PA, both in Philadelphia. Moe, Curly, and Shemp were all born in or near Brooklyn, NY. And Joe Besser was born in St. Louis, MO.

Let me guess: Insanely jealous out-of-town yokel!?ehehe How am I doing?eh I had no idea that I needed your permission to praise my people!?eh Since New York is home to the largest population of Jews in the US, do the math!eh Jews (wealthiest ethnic group in the US) ooze with sweetness!ehehe All in spite of comprising a measly 2% of the US populace. Learn it, live it, love it! eh -D, NYC "The extraordinary European Jews who emigrated to New York were enriching the city’s intellectual life with an intensity that has probably never been equaled anywhere during a comparable period of time. I was raised largely by these Jews… They were my teachers; they were my employers; they were my friends. They introduced me to a world of books and ideas that I didn’t know existed" – MARLON BRANDO (excerpt from "Songs My Mother Taught Me")
