Alternatively, make a layer mask from the selection and blur that. Same effect as Tony’s really.

I would suggest using the pen tool to create a clipping path around the product. This will allow for the ‘crispest’ cropping there is. (and the most control if there are white areas that bleed into the background etc)

This will also be handy for exporting to Quark/Pagemaker/InDesign since the path will be embedded (.tif).

Also it’s really nice since once you have the path you can then create a selection and use the above techniques (or others) and see what works best…and if you don’t like it, just start over…since the path is saved.
