Going into Applications Data and onto Adobe Photoshop 7 Settings I attempted to open that file using Acrobat 5 . This failed to open the file but resulted in the Icons for that file and all the other .psp files changing to an Acrobat Icon. How can I undo this? Reinstalling Photoshop is NOT an option at the present time !

They are preference or preset settings files etc. I don’t know if it matters as I’m sure PS will recognise them anyway and I’m not going to attempt it but you should be able to reset by right clicking on a file in Win Explorer and choosing PS as the application to open with and tick the box to always open with this program.

Of course, if Photoshop doesn’t recognize the format of a .psp or a .rsr (Painter file), or a .wmf, it won’t matter that you tell Win Explorer to use Photoshop to open the file, it’ll still just sit there like a lump…

If you’re gonna dispense advice, Mick Murphy, it helps to have some idea of what you’re talking about, especially if you’re giving suggestions that you’re "not going to attempt…"

Thanks Fellas. I reset the associations to Open with Photoshop. The original psp icon did not return, it was changed to a psd icon but so far things seem to be working OK with prefs.
