Please read the FAQs.

Mine won’t update either and I read the faqs. Did you get it to install?
And the FAQ tells you why it won’t update….
I think you have to format your system first.
I have read the faq and all it says it to re-install photoshop. Did that, it still will not install. Anyone with HELPFUL (not smart-a$$) answers would be appreciated.

Dave, your frustration is showing through…LH
On the assumption that you really can’t find the information, you’re serial number has been compromised. So, if you have a legal copy of PS
7.0 call Adobe Customer Service and they’ll help you.

(psst. it’s "your", not "you’re" fix it and delete this!)

I am having the same problem. My hard drive has three partitions (C=Swap File; D=Windows XP Pro Files; E=Program Files). I installed Adobe Photoshop 7 to my E drive. When I attempt to update to Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1, I get the following error message:
‘The Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1 Update program cannot find Adobe Photoshop 7.0 in E:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\
Please attempt to locate Adobe Photoshop 7.0 again or cancel the update and install Adobe Photoshop 7.0 from the original disks or CD.’
I did install Adobe Photoshop to my E: drive.
I’m hoping someone can help me out, as well as the others who are having problems trying to update the program.
Thanks
mn,
I had to point the 7.01 update to my V. 7. Like you, I have it installed on E:. The updater error tells you that it is looking for Photoshop 7 in:
E:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0
or
E-Drive, folder Program Files, sub-folder Adobe, sub-sub-folder Photoshop 7.0.
Unless all the folders are there, in that order, the updater can’t find the things is needs to modify or replace.
I had to "tell" it that the program was actually in E:\Photoshop7. Once it was pointed to the right place, the update went without a hitch.
Hope this helps.
