I am trying to create an action that resizes a jpg to a specific size and saves as a psd and puts the file back in the same folder as where I opened it. I know to use automate,batch but I dont know what is needed to get the save command as a psd and drop it into that same folder.

Appreciate any tips.

Hi Rob:

You’re 95% of the way there…

Before you record the action:
* Open a test .jpg image

When you record the action:
* Image > Image Size (as needed)
* File > Save As… [.psd]. Don’t worry about file name and folder specified. * Stop recording
* Close test .jpg

File > Automate > Batch
* Source: Folder. Choose (Specify Source folder)
* Destination: Folder. Choose (Specify Destination folder, same as Source) * "Override Action "Save as" commands" – turn this ON. This, in effect, will ignore the file name and folder recorded in the Save As command, while preserving your intent to save in .psd format.

Hope this gets you moving.

Thanks that worked great. I had everything correct but did not understand the automated/batch dialog until now..
