Although I can open them without incident in every other program that I can find, I have not been able to open a 16-bit PNG format file in Photoshop v6.0.1 without all colors shifting to an odd rainbow swirl.

Does any one have any insight into how to get around this short of dumbing down the file to 8-bit color?

Thanks,
Jim

There are plugins available for Photoshop to handle PNG correctly. I can’t remember where I got them, but I am sure a Google will locate them for you.

Photoshop 6 didn’t support 16 bit/channel PNG.

I know Photoshop CS does support 16 bit/channel PNG.

Thanks. I tried to install three different plug-ins that I found, but none of them fixed the problem. Although their descriptions were somewhat vague, they seem to have focused more on writing a properly formatted file rather than reading one.
