Sorry for this basic question, but here goes.

How do I draw an outline box (i.e. a red square with a transparent centre) in PS. Simple in vector apps such as illustrator and coredraw, but can’t do it in PS.

There’s a couple ways.

Make a rectangular Shape and add a Stroke in Layer Style dialog; pull Fill Opacity to zero.

Rectangular marquee, Edit>Stroke.
