Close. Not Lizard. It’s from Snake Oil Enterprises. They also sell x-ray glasses, rubber gum, penis enhancement pills, and virginity renewal kits.

Probably Genuine Fractals from Lizard Tech …

I got a free copy bundled with a film scanner several years ago and have tested it on a variety of images … for most images and reasonable blowups (say 1.5x – 3x) you could do better with Stair Interpolation using Photoshop (just go 110% each step) on earlier versions and now bicubic – smooth works better too if you have CS or later.

I’ve heard if you have to blow up to bill-board size that GF is better but I’ve never had to blow up that much … I think there’s a free trial version so you can try it yourself, but generally it has a pretty bad reputation, in part because of their ridiculous marketing claims like "without degradation of resolution".

What they probably meant is that if the result is looked at from a large distance it is usable. Genuine Fractals say it is good up to 4x enlargement …

Correct.

but generally it has a pretty bad reputation, in part because of their ridiculous marketing claims like "without degradation of resolution".

The theory behind it is interesting enough, the product just doesn’t perform to expectation and better alternatives are available.

What are the better alternatives you would recommend?
