Hi, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a plugin or standalone software for enhancing my images with nice edges.

Autofx has a product for doing edges….but it seems pretty expensive. imho

Any tips/advice welcomed.

TIA

Neat Image (Google) can reduce film or scanner/camera noise and enhance edges (sharpening) as well in one pass.

The automatism can be improved/adapted by manual adjustments.

The original poster was asking about software to add frames, borders, distressed edges etc around the outside of photos, not about USM type edges, I’m pretty sure … look up Autofx, which was mentioned in the post.

many thanks for the tip, KatWoman.I must look that website up.

I would have been tempted to buy Autofx Photographic Edges (looks class), but any demos over the years haven’t worked that well for me.

You have gotten some good links already. I’ve been using the old PhotoFX (back when there were ~4 CDs and no real interface), and have about 30 (out of maybe 2000), that I use often. If you don’t find what you want, you can also make many of the "edges" with Quick Mask, and different Brushes. You can also run various Filters on the mask, to get some wild effects. With the possible exceptions of the "Polaroid" edges, one can duplicate and manipulate to their heart’s content. I often use Painter (now Corel) to get some textured edges, then bring them into CS2 for use. Save your edges as TIFF (or PSD), so you can size them for most images. Create a Folder for your edges and paint away.

Have not tried the new PhotoFX, but would assume that it has more, and maybe is easier to use. The old ver had a book with each CD and one had to look there (often with a magnifying glass), then navigate the CD.
