actions – extract file name

You could run contact sheet at the end of your action, you would ahve to select the folder the images are in and then set the image size and it will put the caption on for you, just remember to not have the contact sheet flatten.

Yea.. that could work.. but not really the solution that I am looking for… I was trying to put the file name (which happens to be the persons name) rather large (80 point). Actually it would be nice to be able to use the previous file name as part of the new file name….

Or run a step that does Image|Duplicate and when it prompts for the filename confirmation, copy it to clipboard; then when pasting the layer delete the last 5 chars. in the action.

The other way is to use PS Scripting.

Ah ha!!! That will almost work for me!! … um.. okay after a little more testing, that works for the one graphic that I built the action with.

Other files end up with the same information from the file I used to build the first one.

I guess the action doesn’t record the copying of the file name, it records the result of the copy command. 🙁 But that is a good idea!
