I have a 4×6 old photo of a friend and their brother as children. It is irreplaceable as the brother has died. How would I blow this up with as good a result as possible? I have scanned it at 600dpi, but where do I go from here?

By having it scanned at 600 ppi, you have already blown up this picture. Change the resolution to 300 ppi in ‘Image Size’ (with ‘Resample Image’ UNchecked), and you will get a 8 x 12 inch print. Change it to 200 ppi and you will get a 12 x 18 print. It may be a bit fuzzy, so you could try to solve that with a bit more sharpening, but don’t expect miracles. The 4×6 print only contains a certain amount of information, and nothing can increase that (except if you work in the CSI teams).
