Hi, I have an older academic version of Photoshop (5.0.1). I’m thinking about upgrading to CS. It would appear form Adobe’s docs that I should be able to simply buy an off-the-shelf CS Upgrade ($169 list). Is this correct? My 5.0.1 version is actually an upgrade from 4.0 and when I re-installed it on a new computer the last time I had to ferret out the 4.0 disk and type in a key from the 4.0 manual.

I upgraded to 7.0 from 1.0 or 2.0, which was on floppies (a lot of them). I faced the same problem, except I was afraid to try to install the old version on my WinXP system first, and I had no CD to put in the drive to recognize. Adobe handled it by phone OK, however.

At the time I asked about the next update and they said I would be able to update from 7.0 by just putting the CD in the drive. I haven’t put it to the test, though. I suggest you check with them first, though.
