A friend sent me this excerpt from the Adobe Photoshop Read Me.wri found in the program folder, version 7.0 :

"If you are upgrading from Adobe Photoshop LE or Photoshop Elements, please use the serial number located on the registration card or on the inside cover of the CD…"

Is that true ???

It is true.
Perhaps they had that as contingency option at some point (or still do). However, it has never been a valid offer to my knowledge.

Mac,

Valid like.. If I do, I’m not going to be able to register it? Because I’ve been waiting for a chance like that for a long time!

I’m saying that they have NOT EVER offered upgrade from LE or Elements to PS7 as an option, as far as I know.

Matter of fact, it would have to be coded into the PS7.01 CD to recognize either of those as valid media for upgrade unless they did some other method.

call customer service. there may indeed be a deal. maybe not the same 150 dollar upgrade from full ps, but still better than the full price.

Well, Ray…report back if there is.
Dunno why they wouldn’t make it known in general if there *is*, though.

Dave,

My olde Microtech X6-EL came with 4 LE. After upgrading to Photoshop 5.01, I used to say that I bought Photoshop and got the scanner for free. <grin>

Mac,

My friend came here today (it was Canada Day, so everybody was off!) with his upgrade disk and when we tried to install it over PSE2, it said that it didn’t find any product valid for upgrade (or something alike). Conclusion is that Photoshop 7.0 Upgrade does not work for PSE.

As for calling Adobe, my spoken english is very bad because of my braces (teeth things..). I’ve tried to locate an e-mail address to ask my question, but all I can find refers to other matters (piracy, etc.).

See Brent’s post.
Brent, was that to PS7 or what?
Did you get a special serial number to use or something?

What I meant is that the current version, boxed with a sticker saying "You need Photoshop 6.0 or earlier", will not upgrade Photoshop Elements. Brent’s box sticker showed a different text.

Raymond, that’s correct. You need to contact adobe to get an upgrade version for elements. You can’t just install the standard "upgrade" version. My guess is they’ll sell you a "full" version at a discounted price.

Call them and ask for a french # in canada (if that’s your native language) and they’ll help you with that too.
