Transforming – Bending objects

This is going to be difficult to describe. I’m wondering if it’s possible to actually bend objects using the Bezier curves that haven’t been created with them? I’ve got an application form that I’ve produced in PageMaker and I’ve transposed it into Photoshop and I’d like to bend it and curl it like a paper document would bend and curl. The Edit>Transform Path options don’t offer that facility. I’ve got something from the Filter>Distort>Wave option but I can’t bend it in the way I want, say, to show a folded document opened out like an open book (well I can, but not very well). If I could somehow get the Bezier curves to attach themselves to my graphic so that when I move the curves the graphic moves aswell, that would do it. Is that possible, or is there another way?

What you’re looking for is a vector graphic (or even a 3D program) which your PageMaker image is not. If I understand you correctly, you are trying to create a little icon or image of your document, but you want it to look like a folded paper, correct? I’m not sure of the luck you’re going to have here. How big will your final image be? Do you want it for web or print?

You can use the Distort, Skew, and Perspective options in Free Transform, but I’m not confident you’ll get the quality you’re looking for. If it were me, I’d probably recreate the icon from scratch, perhaps using little bits and pieces from the PM image.

How did you get the PM applications "transposed" into Photoshop? Was it a screen grab? Is it the entire document or an image from the PM application?

I’ve been thinking about this. If you take a screen shot of your PM document at the lowest magnification possible and play with the scew and distort free transform tools, you can create a pretty good folded paper effect for the web (because it will be low res). Here’s one <http://www.softcom.net/images/foldedpapersample.jpg> I did in about five or so minutes using one of my old promo cards in PM.

I’m not sure if this is what you’re looking for, but this is my best guess.
