Is there a way to set defaults in Adobe Photoshop (I’m using version 6) so that when I hit CTRL-N to get a new blank window to come up so that I can paste items into it, that I don’t have to keep changing "pixels" to inches in the height and width boxes, and resetting the width and height numbers.? Thanks,

Chris

7.0.1 suffers from the same "problem." One solution? Record an action (I
never had v6 installed, so I am making assumption that v6 can record an action).

Create a new action, name it
click Record
make the selection in the "original"
Ctrl-C to copy the selection
Ctrl-N to make New copy
change width and height to inches
Ctrl-V to paste
stop recording

Hit the Play button on the selected action. Vy-ola.

I’m a newbie second class, so I figure that was pretty ok for a first try at solving this problem for someone else as well as myself. I’m open to better/easier/faster….

Go to Edit>Preferences>Units&Rulers>Rulers and set to inches.

Also, PS will default to the size of anything in your Clipboard when you do Ctrl-N, so if that is NOT the size you will want, you will need to Purge the clipboard, or be prepared to set the size to other than the image in the Clipboard.
