I need a real quick solution here. can anybody suggest the best way to create a Sepia pic. I have a wedding photo (in colour) and the bride would like a large sepia print so I’m gonna do it in my local shop. The prob is, it has to be 20×16. So, should I work from a black and white copy or a colour one…and how do I make the sepia tone? Like I said, I need this really quick ‘cos I’m going on holidays at the weekend and I need to get it done for Saturday,
thanks everybody

If you’re really in a hurry, why not use the Sepia Tone Action that ships as one of the default Actions with Photoshop? Why reinvent the wheel?

It’s in the default actions set, called "default.atn." The action itself is called "Sepia Toning." If for some reason it’s been deleted you can go find it on the Photoshop CD.

Use a duatone. Take your photo, change its mode to grayscale, change that mode to Duatone, select your two colors to look duatone, tweak curves in it; etc. That is about the quickest way with best custom results. If you want noise etc. to make a photo look older, you will have to do more work on top of these steps.

In my last post, I meant to say change your colors in the duatone settings to make your photo look sepia. Good luck. I use this technique a lot. Works great. You can also tweak the colors for different printing situations.
