I would like to make a custom birthday card for a friend, changing the letter D at the start of Denny’s to a P. The birthday is happening at the end of February, 2006.

It would be ideal to have available a vector image, similar to these:

http://yourchoicerealtor.com/images/properties/Denny‘s%20logo.jpg

or

http://www.carshowreview.com/dennys-02.jpg

which contains the word Denny’s in regular lettering, with the word Diner in cursive.

Does anybody know where I might find such a vector file?

Maybe I could try contacting Denny’s themselves?

And any other advice folks?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Do this with the clone tool. copy the D to a new document, and reverse it. Clone the right edge of the backward D to the original image to form the vertical stem of the capital P. Then use bits of the original D to make up the top of the P.

Thanks for that reply.

Anybody know where I might find a vector file of "Denny’s Diner" (both words.)

I have also just sent an email, and regular letter to Denny’s.

Cheers, Miner2049er.

Thanks for the link.

No luck there. They are either in past typefaces, or missing outlines.

Still looking…

They don’t use typefaces (fonts). They draw the characters. Look at #6. It’s the current universal sign. You might have to add some text to look just like your example picture. But you can certainly make a P out of the D. Just modify the path.

Just found the best online (bitmap) version of the logo (no word "Diner" unfortunately)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/36/Dennys.png

And passing by my local Denny’s last night I observed where colors are used in the logo:

01. main yellow background
02. orange border
03. main red letters
04. darkened red
05. darkened yellow
06. white border
07. blue "Diner" script
08. white shadow beneath "Diner"
09. pink "three-bar-wings"
10. white shadow beneath wings

That won’t print very well if you upsize it.
This one is a bit bigger: http://elearning.winona.edu/staff_o/jjs/denny2.png

You are still better off with the Ilustrator file. It scales infinitely without loss, and you can make a P of the D very easily.

That’s a great rendering, thanks. The hole inside the P may need a slight touch more of a curve to it, and I would love the word Diner, and the little wings find their way in. Thanks again!

🙂 My assistant is learning. Give him good feedback.

No such font for the ‘Diner’.
Close enough?

I figured that if you kept at it long enough someone would do it for you.

How much would you like to bet? 🙂

Thanks for all your replies folks, and assistance.

It get done for me eventually (and I’m no illustrator, so would have taken me months, or maybe longer to do.) But I hope somehow in the grand scheme of things that efforts get rewarded in some way.

Keep up the good work, and have a great week.
