I use both Phptoshop 6.0 and 7.0.
If I have a photo doc. taken at high quality and open it i P.shop 6.0 I may have a doc size of 2240 x 1680 pixels, – 31.1 x 23.3 inches at a resolution 72.
If I open the same document in P.shop 7.0 a get the same amount of pixels ( of course ), but I have a size of 15.5 x 11.6 inches ?? at a resolution of 144 ? Both the constrainproportions and resample image is checked out ?? But the resolution does not change the documents size in inches ? does it ? no –
Why do I get a smaller picture with 7.0 ?
Which settings are wrong ? or what can I do ?

Your file is getting misread some how. However. if you take the check off resample in the change file size box and then adjust the resolution your sizes will then match.

Until you are actually printing, the reported ppi resolution is meaningless. It’s the same pixels and the same file.

The dpi is different. I have no idea why they are different, but there really is no problem here.
Which settings are wrong ? or what can I do ?
Neither setting is "wrong". As for what you can do, just reset the dpi to the value you want.
