I was wondering exactly how to resize some pictures to make them ebay worthy.

One picture I took with my digital camera when I go to image size the pixel dimensions are 2.14M
width-1000 pixels
height-748 pixels

and for document size
width- 13.889 inches,
height- 10.389 inches
res-72 pixels per inch

Both constrain proportions and resample image with bicubic are checked

I’m just wondering how I can get this image down to a small file size without losing as much quality as possible, like I’ve seen images on ebay around 30K that look pretty well, I wasn’t sure what can do it with this.

I have the video professor lesson which goes through a few things, like transform scale (this is different from image size, as nothing in the image size window changes when I do it)

If you are uploading the pictures through eBay’s feature, then eBay will reduce the size. Start with 650px wide, let the rest fall where it will and try it. It works for me. You can always cancel the auction if you don’t like the outcome. I prefer bicubic-smoother. YMMV.

I guess this would work for ebay, if I was only uploading one picture of the item, I wondered what I’d do if perhaps I needed to make a collage of pics into one picture for uploading.

Resize the image to something like 3×4 inches at 72 ppi. It’ll be about 180K in size. It might be a good idea to sharpen afterward (Filter>Sharpen>Unsharp Mask). Then choose File>Save for Web. Choose JPEG High quality and you’ll see the file size go down to about 20K. There should be little or no visible change to the picture. Tom Nelson
