All I want to do is draw a simple black line frame at the edge or just inside the edge of my photo but I can’t seem to find an easy way to do this. I don’t want to freehand it. Thanks

1 Use the rectangle marquee tool to select where you want the frame. 2 Right click and use select inverse. Mac users I think you have to go under the select menu.
3 select edit and then fill
4 at the top select background color… unless the for ground color is what you have set to black. click OK

Thanks guys. The first suggestion allows me to move the frame within the pic, and the 2nd is a quick way to make a frame at the outside edge. Thanks again.

A third, allowing specification of the width and easy stepped creation of multi colour borders:

Set background colour to what you want.
Image-Canvas size
tick relative and add EVEN numbers in the height and width. 2 gives a nice 1 pixel border on each side.
(or don’t tick relative and specify the end total width and height of the pic, bu make sure you add even numbers)
Especially usefull when you want different sizes vertical and horizontal. Repeat if you want to add other coloured borders.
I have recorded actions for several fixed sizes.
