A non-print media database outfit gave a pitch to our library. The salesdroid said that they use exclusively JPEG2000 for servering to web pages.

What’s the status on the use of the standard. It’s done, correct? Not catching on? CS doesn’t offer it as an output. Does it?

Photoshop is able to save JPEG2000 files. Webbrowsers are not able to view them unless you installed a viewer plugin.

I find no option to save as JPEG200 in PS V9 (CS2).
Where is it?

Save as… JPEG 2000. You may have to add this option manually from the ‘Goodies’ folder on the Photoshop install disk. I’m not sure it’s installed by default.

And/or, if working in 16 bit, you have to convert to 8 bits before you can save as a JPEG of any type. Other restrictions apply. Void where prohibitied….

Not true. JPEG2000 does support 16 bits. It’s one of the options you still get when you select "SAve as…" with a 16 bits file.
