Cool group. I was just wondering if 7 was better. I’ve heard that CS you have to register it at their website and although its the newest one it doesnt really have anything better than 7. also is the interface different in each and are the features in 7 still in CS? Also, again, is there a difference in versions (is the Mac version different than the PC version ) in photoshop 7? In CS?

Thanks

If you ignore the controls Adobe arbitrarily and foolishly put on their paying customers, no, CS is a good upgrade. Some odd bugs here and there.

I’ve heard that
CS you have to register it at their website

And activate it, yeah.

and although its the newest
one it doesnt really have anything better than 7.

Well, that’s just plain wrong.

You can add pretty much all of the new features of CS to 7 as third-party plugins. It will cost more and if you’re not careful, you’ll get stuck with inferior results.

also is the interface
different in each

CS is tweaked for useability, with many additional options added. Otherwise the same.

and are the features in 7 still in CS?

Of course.

Also, again,
is there a difference in versions (is the Mac version different than
the
PC version ) in photoshop 7? In CS?

No and no.

Where are you getting your information from?

You need to do a little research. Plenty of good information out there.

Yeah, stupid activation annoyance. I have been a registered user from Pshop 3 up through version 7. When CS came out with the activation BS some friends I know got "activation free" copies off the net. Sorry Adobe, you haven’t really stopped the illegal copies, you have just invonvenienced all the legit people. I am *very* temped to just get a burn from my friends CS copy so I don’t have to deal with that crap.

I had to repair the activation twice this week. Might be time to get a copy that is less inconvenient.

Others have answered the questions of differences and the activation situation is no big deal. I’ve essentially had to do the same thing with several graphics programs when I upgraded after a few iterations and the built-in database in the install program didn’t recognize my SN. Adobe has been very helpful, as has MacroMedia in that respect. If you are a legal licensee, it’s instant and a piece of cake. I have yet to have to do a re-install, and depending on how that goes, when it does happen, I may change my tune, but I kinda’ doubt it.

My feeling too is that CS is a winner, and I doubt that I’ll ever use my 7 again, though I still have 4.0.x on one machine for a special task for one specific client. I use it maybe twice a year. CS is so much like 7 in its interface, that I don’t feel the need to have 7 as a crutch in crunch-time, like I did with 5 -> 6 (I never did get 5.5). There, the interfaces changed enough, that I kept fumbling for the right Tool, or the right keyboard command. It took a bit to go that route, then again with 7. CS is a dream, for me. One user – one vote.

I think you heard wrong. Apart from the irritant register/activation scheme Adobe decided to put in CS, it rocks. It surpasses Pshop7 in many ways. I’m glad I upgraded. and I am afraid activation is the thing of the near future. More and more software houes will start using them. Even when they don’t really help stopping piracy imho, but then again, I haven’t seen the sales figures…

My wish would be: STOP with these annoying features. But about CS, I am 100% content!

Looks like a scam to get money for illegal stuff you can download free of charge as well. (also illegal, but there is a still a gap in my book between stealing for own use and stealing and making money of it too.)
