Thanks, Mike, that worked well. Now the problem is when I print the image with the profile, it prints in grayscale. Then when I go back to print another image, I notice the profile has been switched to "working dot gain – 20%". I did it several times and it happened every time. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks again,
Peter
Hi Peter,
Glad it worked. For your current problem, I really don’t know what it is, but would suggest you try a couple of things. First, look at your color settings, under the ‘Edit’ menu. Click the Advanced checkbox to see everything. Second, try looking at your ‘printed output’ on your screen, using soft proofing. Do View > Proof Setup > Custom & play around. Ctrl-Y toggles the proofing on/off. Check the title bar of your image (toggle ‘F’ key if there’s no title bar) to see the proof ‘state’. Finally, in ‘Print with Preview’, check the ‘Show More Options’ checkbox, select ‘Color Management’ from the dropdown box, in ‘Source Space’, click the ‘Document’ radio button, then see what’s showing below.
Sorry I can’t be more specific on what to do. BTW, what Operating System and PS version are you using? Windows (I assumed) or Mac?
A final thought: Just to keep the list of profiles less messy, I created a new folder (Windows XP)
c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\color-disabled. It shows in Explorer right below the …drivers\color folder, where all the profiles live. I just moved the ones I don’t use to the color-disabled folder, just to clean up the list I get in Photoshop. Of course those that are Photoshop ‘internal’ profiles (such as 20% dot gain) you can’t dump. Oh well.
Good luck in finding the cause of this.
Mike
