How do I change a picture to 256 colour palette? (Photoshop CS Win) The help file seems to suggest selecting Windows System palette, but it doesn’t say where to find this, nor does it say that this willconvert an existing image to 256 colors.

Also, how do I set or determine the number of pixels X,Y for my image?

Thanks

Peter

Your second question: use image>image size

Thanks. Image size now understood.

Index color is still a bit of a mystery.

I find the help file very frustrating in that it tells me what to use by not how I find it in the maze of menus.

When I do a search for Index Color I find the following:

Color inclusion and transparency
To specify colors to be included in the indexed color table or to specify transparency in the image, choose from the following options:
Forced… etc

but it doesn’t tell me where to find the indexed color table!!!

Am I missing some crucial piece of newbie knowledge about using Photoshop’s Help?

Help sucks. You’d do better with a copy of the Photoshop Bible.
