Hi members and lurkers,

Last night I was at
http://www.worth1000.com/cache/contest/contestcache.asp?cont est_id=3084&start=1&end=10&display=photoshop
can anyone of you tell where to find the tutorial to make such creations?

I can imagine that this will take hours and hours to create, but I would like to try it out.

Have a nice day,

Mario

I’d start with hermit crab image, get a Union Jack image and place it (maybe several sections of it) onto a layer(s). Bloating/distorting the individual Layer(s) to get the look of the compound curves of the crab’s legs would then create the impression of them wrapping around. Adjusting the Opacity of these Layers or Blending>Color would allow the texture of the legs to show. Very simplistic, but with of a bit of experimentation, I think it could be done. Another would be to create wireframes of the legs in 3-D and then "paint" in 3-D Painter, or similar, and then using Layers, Opacity, and Blend modes to create the picture.

Great pic too!

I really doubt you’ll find a tutorial written specifically for what your looking at – these people are simply applying the skills they’ve acquired over time…

Why don’t you try contacting the artist and asking how he did it?

It’s actually very easy to do..

1 layer is your crab.. blending mode : normal
1 layer is your flag.. you would have to play will all the differen blending mode..
Add an adjustment layer color-balance… brightness.. Hue saturation.. add afew and again play with the blending mode..

make a selection of what’s good to keep and cut the crap off on all th different layers.. (flag, adjustment layers.. etc.
