I can not open my raw files in PC CS from my 5D, I have downloaded the Adobe 2,4 update and it will not work.
Can someone help me with this?

Adobe is not bringing out AC RAW patches or updates for older versions so they won’t directly support the 5D with CS. You can buy CS 2 or you can go the DNG route and get the DNG download for CS RAW 3.3 … even though the 3.3 CS RAW update is for CS 2 the attached 3.3 DNG converter will let you convert your 5D files to DNG and then you can open these DNG files in CS … so this is Adobe’s way of doing it, basically forcing you to convert your RAW files to DNG or upgrade to CS 2.

So there is a way to do it and still use CS. Or you can try a different program that most of us feels does a better job of RAW conversion like the free RawShooter Essentials or the $99 Phase One Capture One, both will support native 5D files.

You might also find Canon’s own DPP which comes with the camera is not half bad either and it has a function to ‘move’ the picture to Photoshop which (provided you have enough memory) allows you to use DPP much like bridge or ACR with more control and still give you editing in Photoshop.
