Working in PhotoShop CS, win2k.

I open the PDF… text is converted to 86% rather than 100% black. The result is terrible in printing… I’m messing with color settings but can’t get it to come up with a crisp black on the text.

How was the PDF Created? Was the PDF in CMYK when created?

The problem comes up with any PDF, created in any format. Some are created by Quark, Indesign, distiller–it is clearly a problem with the color managment which I can’t seem to turn entirely off!

Jenrose,

Create a Custom CMYK profile with Black Generation set to maximum and load that as your CMYK working Profile.

With a bit of luck and a following wind, that should give you text at 0C, 0M, 0Y, 100K

But I’m creating greyscale .tif files! We’re black and white only.

Jen,

But I’m creating greyscale .tif files! We’re black and white only.<,

Photoshop uses the ‘k’ component from the CMYK profile for greyscale files…

So the conversion uses the CMYK profile rather than the greyscale profile when rasterizing PDF, even if greyscale is selected?

I believe so, Jen
