Can anyone help me create an action (and then I’ll make a droplet to drop the entire folder onto) to rename a folder of about 75 Tif files with random names (e.g. boy, girl, house, tree etc) into an alpha-numerical sequence of numbers starting at FGSS-0112 and going up numerically FGSS-0113 and so on to FGSS-0187. The first 4 letters and the hyphen and the first two numerals stay the same. Or, perhaps there is an existing action or program?

thank you,
Frank

Windows can do this .
Select all your files and rename the first one in the selection FGSS-0112

Unless I’m doing something wrong (I’m working via windows explorer), it cant.
This is what it does :
FGSS-0112
FGSS-0112 (1)
FGSS-0112 (2)
FGSS-0112 (3)
and so on

Windows can do this .

I looked at that, but it isnt clear to me (and maybe others) how to do that (sequential numbering). I’ve thus just done it all manually, but for future reference (and again maybe for others) perhaps you could provide an example as per my original post?
Thanks

What’s the puzzle? Read it carefully. You start with a base filename, and ask it to increment with a value such as "158" (whatever) in increments of 1, and append the filename. I tell ya, there’s s whole lot more that can help you if you just read it carefully; Adobe developers aren’t stupid.

Is it a sure indication that the economy is getting better when more and more dimwits can afford PC/CS or is it an indicator of greater theft?

Comment intended to suggest that all these new PC/CS users don’t have a clue as to what it can do, nor do they even investigate. That, IMHO, is a sign of theft or rich dimwits.
