Thanks

In CS, when you choose automate from the file browser you can tick a box called "suppress file open options dialogs"
If you select that you’ll probably get what you want…

Does the camera not do that itself? If so why not use it? Most people who shoot raw are looking for somethig beyond "batch processing" AFAIK

You may want to try using ImageMagick instead:

http://www.imagemagick.org/

It is a set of image manipulation tools. It can convert all major graphic file formats (over 80 or so). It’s easy to script, and a time saver compared to Photoshop batching.

You are correct that those who shoot RAW want more. However, to be able to batch process to another format give the user an easy way to look through all the pictures to pick the ones to manually process and which ones not to bother with. When running through a few hundred pictures, it’s much faster to process only those worth it than to go through the whole bunch one at a time.

Let’s say I have a studio shoot and take 100 shots RAW all under same lighting conditions. Then I will fix one for tonal and temp stuff and batch process the rest.
