I eventually cracked and downloaded my trial verion of CS. I uploaded some jpegs to Dreamweaver – and Dreamweaver wouldn’t recognise them.
So after much cursing of Adobe, battering of computer with chair leg etc I discovered this snippet in the PS help file

‘Some applications may not be able to read a CMYK file saved in JPEG format.’

I never knew that – I always thought all jpegs were the same ?????

Why don’t you ask Adobe? I’m sure if you phone their helpline they’d be glad to help. Don’t forget to give them your name and address for their records.

This ng’s got hackers on the brain – when I said ‘cracked’ I meant I’ve been resisting downloading cs for months and eventually my RESOLVE CRACKED and I downloaded it.

Adobe have already got my name and address cos I’ve got a registered copy of v6 at home and v7 at work.
It’s also listed under Contact Details on my website

I’m very disappointed in you Hecate – I thought you were one of the more literate members of this ng.

Yep . I realised that eventually – but I still don’t understand why all jpegs aren’t the same

If he meant downloaded and cracked I could agree.
But, cracked and *then* downloaded indicates he speaks the truth. So apologise now you halfwit!

I am aware Hecate is a long time poster to this ng.
I am also a long time poster to this ng and Hecate and I have discussed points raised here both amicably and sensibly on many occasions – which is why I’m so disappointed in the way she responded to my original post.

Although I still browse this ng from time to time I, admittedly, no longer post here on a regular basis. Which is probably why you’re not aware I first started posting here several years ago (When PS was still on v5) when the number of posters was much smaller and better informed. At that time you were always guaranteed a sensible and helpful answer. Nowadays however most of the posts simply consist of people slinging abuse at each other and you have to wade through pages of opinionated rubbish to find any helpful comments.
My own original post is a classic example. One post offering advice (Thank you Chuck Norris) and 6 irrelevant ones.

Dreamweaver is an application for making web pages. CMYK is used for print, so it stands to reason that DW would not be set up to deal with CMYK images.

It’s cause they’re cracked. They’ve all got big cracks in them now. Can’t play ’em in the car cd player nor nuthin’. You should just get a big ole roll of duct tape and see if you can fix the crack. If that doesn’t work, try super-glue on your monitor. That stuff will hold anything.

Ah, so Ian = Broga?

Perhaps you might find the use of the word cracked a little injudicious in a group where pirates are constantly trying to get people to fix their broken downloads?

I apologise if there’s been a misunderstanding, but your (broga) post wasn’t exactly clear.

His post was very clear.
As he said "he cracked and downloaded…"
Not downloaded and cracked.
Pretty clear I reckon.
As if that wasn’t enough, he explained it further in another post. And then got abused by a rat called doormouse who also called him a thief among other despicable things.
But what could you expect from a vermin?
At least you have had the guts to apologise to him for which I for one congratulate you.

That is correct. A CMYK image will not display in Dreamweaver, it must be RGB.
